Dan is an approachable, energetic, and trusted associate with a practice focusing on general business and other corporate matters. Dan counsels corporate clients of all sizes and brings a broad range of experience to his practice in corporate law, including:

  • Venture capital and angel fundraising
  • Commercial licensing and contracting
  • Mergers and acquisitions

As a member of the firm’s Venture Best® Team, Dan advises early-stage and emerging growth companies throughout their lifecycle, including business plan review, corporate or limited liability company formation, stock options and other equity incentive plans, corporate governance, debt and equity financing strategies, corporate reorganizations and buyouts, and other general corporate matters.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Dan worked as a legal intern at Jockey International, Inc.

Experience

Daniel’s notable matters include:

  • Advised a Madison-area early-stage healthcare information technology client on its successful $15 million Series B venture financing and $11+ million Series A financing
  • Advised a Milwaukee-area early-stage biotechnology client on its successful $21+ million Series A financing
  • Advised a Chicago-area early-stage cloud-based service provider on its successful $19 million Series B financing
  • Advising and successfully closing on several multi-million dollar debt offerings by an established Madison-area real estate development group
  • Negotiating several exclusive and non-exclusive licenses in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, software, manufactured products, and agricultural products
  • Advising an agribusiness client on a $42+ million sale of corporate assets
  • Advising a food business client on a $33+ million purchase of a competitor
