What We Do

Armed with this potent combination of experience, we assist clients with the full range of government enforcement and compliance issues, from internal compliance reviews to highly publicized government crackdowns that call for immediate action and sophisticated strategies. With our insider experience and crisis management skills, we can help you weather even the roughest storms of public opinion and regulatory scrutiny.

White Collar Defense

Michael Best has experience representing executives and corporations in white collar and criminal defense matters, securities-related litigation, and civil enforcement actions by federal and state government agencies.

We partner with our clients' in-house counsel and key executives to ensure early, rapid, and effective response to criminal and regulatory investigations.

Our White Collar Litigation group is seasoned in all aspects of criminal and regulatory enforcement matters. We often successfully resolve such matters without public charges, trial, or media scrutiny.

We represent corporate clients and individuals in all phases of the criminal process, from the initial government or grand jury investigation through trial, appeal, and any subsequent collateral enforcement actions. We help clients respond efficiently to grand jury subpoenas and agency civil investigative demands, often helping avoid further agency action against our clients.

We have successfully guided clients through parallel investigations by multiple agencies with separate enforcement agendas. We have also prepared witnesses to testify before Congress and other legislative or administrative hearings.

Investigations

We represent clients in all stages of internal investigations, government agency investigations, and congressional investigations. Our team brings insights and strategies based on their firsthand experience with the executive branch and Congress.

Compliance

Our team works with clients to perform organizational structure assessments, regulatory compliance audits, and internal investigations to identify potential risks. We can help you develop strategies for enterprise-level regulatory compliance, litigation avoidance, and risk mitigation.
