Overview

Mike is an Associate in the firm’s Litigation practice.

Before joining Michael Best, Mike was the constitutional law fellow for the Robertson Center for Constitutional Law at Regent University School of Law. As the primary drafter for nine appellate amicus briefs, Mike represented former members of Congress, former state supreme court justices, and national nonprofit organizations in the Supreme Court of the United States, federal courts of appeals, and the Supreme Court of North Carolina. As a lecturer at Regent, Mike taught constitutional law courses alongside a former U.S. Solicitor General, as well as current and former judges, including a sitting U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

Mike began his legal career as a Judicial Clerk for Chief Justice Mark D. Martin of the Supreme Court of North Carolina. Following his clerkship, Mike worked as a legal fellow for a state policy think tank, assisting North Carolina legislators as they worked to adopt important criminal law reforms.  

Mike previously served in the United States Marine Corps as a member of “The Commandant’s Own” U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. He performed for many of the highest ranking officials in the United States government and sounded taps for funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.
