Overview

Karen Kleiman is the firmwide Director of Recruiting, responsible for managing and executing all aspects of the firm’s recruitment strategy. Working closely with the firm’s executive committee, chair(s) of the recruiting committee, and practice group leaders, Karen leads the firm’s lateral attorney, legal professional, and business support staff recruiting efforts.

Karen is a results-oriented professional with over 25 years of experience as a practicing attorney, specializing in legal skills training, professional development, and legal recruiting. As a certified career and business coach, she has demonstrated success in onboarding, mentoring, counseling, training, evaluating, and developing attorneys and professional staff. Karen excels in strategic recruiting and hiring legal talent, providing career services, legal project management, and facilitating outreach and training for law schools, attorneys, law enforcement, and community members.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Karen served as the director of law firm management at a legal executive search firm, where she partnered with premier law firms to identify and hire legal talent for C-suite and director-level positions.

Karen also served as the senior director of professional development at a law and lobbying firm where she worked with the Business Leadership Team to achieve professional development objectives for over 250 attorneys and policy professionals across eleven offices.

Prior to Karen’s business leadership roles at several law firms, she practiced law for 10 years as a trial lawyer, both in private practice and as a criminal prosecutor at the Office of the Attorney General in Boston.
