James is an Associate in Michael Best’s transactional group. He assists clients with a variety of business and transactional matters, with a focus in the banking and financial services sector.
Before joining Michael Best, James was an Associate at a boutique trading and investment law firm headquartered in Chicago. In this role, he reviewed, revised, and tracked terms of various physical and derivative trading agreements including ISDA Master Agreements, Prime Brokerage Agreements and Term Lockups, Total Return Swap Master Confirmations, and repurchase agreements. James also regularly assisted with negotiations and conducted due diligence related to clients’ potential trading relationships.
While pursuing his law degree, James served as a Law Clerk for an Illinois business law firm where he drafted briefs and motions related to commercial and business litigation matters and conducted legal research on shareholder derivative litigation and dissolution of corporations and LLCs. James also gained experience as a Legal Extern for Gold Coast Bank in Chicago.
