Clients look to Brian for his extensive background in a broad spectrum of intellectual property matters. He has a strong track record in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications as well as deep experience with patent infringement and patent validity studies and related issues. Brian’s experience encompasses management of outside intellectual property counsel, as well as trademark law practice, and review of research and development agreements.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Brian spent nearly two decades as an intellectual property lawyer focusing on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. His areas of technology include medical devices, artificial intelligence in the selection and processing of images, data transfer among networked medical devices, vehicle networks and control systems, alarm systems, access control, and user interfaces.

Brian also served as a patent lawyer for the U.S. Department of Energy, and as a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
