Overview

Alex’s clients look to him for help securing and protecting their patents related to electrical and electronic systems, embedded software, and communication systems.

Alex started at Michael Best as a patent engineer in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. In this capacity, he assisted with drafting patent applications and formulating responses to actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and completed clearance and state of the art searches.

Experience

In recent engagements, Alex has:

  • Prepared and filed over thirty five patent applications, either nationally with the USPTO or internationally under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, on behalf of a communications industry client related to communication systems for handheld and other mobile devices
  • Filed and prosecuted over twenty patent applications for systems related to a power tool communications and controls for a power tool manufacturing client. Alex also performed clearance analysis on proposed new designs including LED lighting control and power tool communications  for the power tool manufacturer.
  • Assisted with filing and prosecuting patent applications, both with the USPTO and internationally in China and Chile, related to control systems for mining equipment
  • Performed clearance analysis on designs for the control systems of household appliances
  • Assisted with providing patent protection nationally with the USPTO and internationally in Europe, China and Japan and for an electrical industry client. Alex’s work encompassed assisting with the filing and prosecution of applications relating to a position measurement systems for automotive use.

Alex graduated first in his class from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a B.S. in electrical engineering.
