Michael Best’s José Olivieri Selected as 2023 Notable Alumni Award Recipient by BizTimes

Michael Best is pleased to announce that José Olivieri has been selected as a Notable Alumni award recipient by BizTimes Media. Award recipients are graduates of higher-education institutions based in southeastern Wisconsin who demonstrate excellence in their expertise and serve at a senior-level role with the ability to effect change within the organization, industry, and community. 

Based in Michael Best’s Milwaukee office, Olivieri, Senior Partner and Industry Group Chair for the firm’s Higher Education group, counsels colleges and universities on the broad spectrum of issues including governance matters, privacy issues, employment issues, student discipline issues, immigration law, labor contract administration, and other general matters. He is also the founder of Michael Best’s Immigration law practice.

Outside of his legal profession, Olivieri has held a variety of leadership roles for local organizations. He served as Chair of the Board of Directors for over 20 years for the United Community Center, a civic organization primarily serving Milwaukee’s Hispanic community. He is past Chair of various organizations, including the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and the Milwaukee Forum, a group fostering communication between young leaders from diverse backgrounds. He is also a founding member and past president of the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association and has served on several additional boards over the years, including the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents, the Mount Mary University Board of Trustees, and the Milwaukee Area Advisory Board of U.S. Bank and past Chair of Carroll University’s Board of Trustees. Olivieri currently serves on the Lutheran Social Services and Froedtert Health System boards.

Olivieri earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Marquette Law Review, and his B.S., cum laude, from Carroll University.
