Michael Best’s Jorge Leon Recognized as Notable Nonprofit Board Leader by Crain’s Chicago Business

Michael Best is pleased to announce that Jorge Leon has been named a Notable Nonprofit Board Leader by Crain’s Chicago Business. Recipients are honored for their involvement, the professional expertise they bring and their dedication to advancing the mission of their nonprofit boards and organizations.  Crain’s Chicago Business’s recognition is specifically focused on Leon’s many contributions as a Trustee of the Field Museum.

Based in Michael Best’s Chicago office, Leon is a partner and co-leader of the firm’s Employee Benefits group. As a boardroom insider, clients ranging from small, privately-held companies to global, public companies see Leon as a go-to advisor for directors, compensation committees, and C-suite executives, helping solve critical compensation, fiduciary and benefits issues. As a thought leader, professional organizations, policy makers and the media frequently seek Leon’s thoughts and opinions on benefits and compensation issues and developments.

Outside of work, Leon is heavily involved in the community by actively serving on the boards for other nonprofits such as Gads Hill Center and the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois Charities. Additionally, Leon serves as the co-chair of Michael Best’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and is a member of the Leadership Advisory Council of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and of the Economic Club of Chicago. Leon is involved in a variety of bar associations and is a Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.

Leon earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law and his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
