Overview

John is an accomplished leader with substantial experience in health plan operations that include finance, pricing, compliance, clinical, sales management, and strategic planning. He has worked closely with core teams to help them turn their innovative concepts into market-ready healthcare products and services by implementing successful business strategies.

Prior to joining Michael Best Strategies, John was Senior Vice President of Business Development for Advocate Aurora Health system (AAH) and President of Wisconsin Collaborative Insurance Company (WCIC), a clinical-based joint venture health plan co-owned by AAH and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin. He was responsible for the start-up, ongoing operations, and strategic growth of the partnership venture, including successful alignment of the two organizations around the unique clinical model.

In his SVP role with Aurora, John was responsible for growing AAH’s access, capabilities, and market through innovative health care delivery implementations. During his tenure there, John led sales and innovation in the Illinois market, and developed and launched a captive reinsurance company focused on large employer product development.

Previously, John served as Vice President of Provider Engagement and Contracting for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Wisconsin, where he managed successful growth opportunities through innovative health system agreements. John oversaw a team of 42 and more than $3 billion in annual health care purchasing. Earlier, John was the Vice President of Network Management at United Healthcare in Milwaukee.
