Overview

Garrett focuses his IP law practice on patent protection for inventions within the mechanical engineering field. His broad experience encompasses the automotive, construction, farming, heavy equipment, and manufacturing industries. He is particularly knowledgeable in technical areas such as:

  • Power generation
  • Internal combustion engines
  • Autonomous control of dynamic systems
  • Heat transfer equipment
  • Applied thermodynamics
  • Tire manufacturing
  • Outboard motors

Prior to joining the firm, Garrett was an associate with a Nashville, Tenn. IP boutique law firm. Earlier in his career, he served as a patent examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark office, gaining significant expertise in patent prosecution and the challenges petitioners face, including navigating the patent process in the wake of the America Invents Act and the Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank Int’l. decision.
