On March 2nd, the U.S. Trade Representative delivered President Trump's 2026 Trade Policy Agenda and the 2025 Annual Report to Congress. Obviously overshadowed by the events in the Middle East, the “America First” Trade Policy Agenda doubles down on the Administration's commitment to increasing domestic manufacturing (onshoring) and continuing pursuit of reciprocal trade agreements. The policy agenda focuses on onshoring “critical supply chains” such as (i) pharmaceuticals and medical equipment; (ii) metals; (iii) energy; (iv) semiconductors; and (v) critical minerals, among others.

Importantly, food and agricultural exports are mentioned throughout as a priority, as export markets are critical for agricultural commodities and dairy products. Focusing on keeping export markets alive for agriculture will most certainly help America's farmers and ranchers.

The [UK] has committed to opening its market to $700 million in U.S. ethanol exports and duty-free treatment for...additional U.S. agricultural exports, including beef."
