Michael Best is thrilled to announce that Kelly Fortier, partner and Sub-Group Leader of the Immigration practice, has been selected as a 2026 Women of Influence by <em>Milwaukee Business Journal</em>, recognizing the impact of her leadership, community involvement, and contributions to the firm and broader Milwaukee community. The annual program honors leaders who are driving organizational success, strengthening their industries, and making a meaningful difference across Southeast Wisconsin.

From Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, Fortier helps employers of all sizes meet their staffing needs by handling the immigration issues they face in hiring foreign nationals and moving employees around the globe. She handles compliance issues for corporations that transfer dozens of employees into and out of the United States each year, as well as small companies seeking to bring in a few key hires from abroad or expand operations internationally.

As Sub-Group Leader of the Immigration practice group, Fortier has doubled the group’s size and implemented a scalable pricing model over the past decade. Through her efforts and leadership, she has thoughtfully built a team of highly experienced attorneys and legal professionals.

Outside of the firm, she serves on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Policy Forum, where she is also a member of its Membership &amp; Development Committee, and as First Vice Chair of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, where she focuses on advancing opportunities for girls and fostering future leaders.
