Michael Best’s Intellectual Property Litigation team recently achieved a successful result in district court litigation for sensor maker SSI Technologies (SSI).  The Michael Best team, led by Partner Shane Brunner, obtained summary judgement from the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin in a contested patent infringement case on May 23, 2024.  Judge James Peterson ruled in favor of SSI on all claims, finding that Dongguan Zhengyang Electronic Mechanical (DZEM) infringed SSI’s U.S. patent directed to ultrasonic sensing technology.  The case now proceeds to trial to determine willful infringement and damages.  Michael Best has represented SSI in this case since 2019.
