Overview

Angela represents corporations across numerous industries and non-profit organizations regarding compliance with ever-changing employment laws for an increasingly multi-state workforce. She has extensive experience serving as employment counsel, where she advises clients on hiring, termination, wage and hour compliance, employee handbooks, investigations into discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and various other issues. She is also a subject matter expert on California employment laws, and regularly provides compliance training to her clients.

Angela has successfully litigated employment cases in federal and state court in California and Illinois, in arbitration, and before administrative agencies nationwide. She regularly defends employers facing claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act, and the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Angela was a Partner at an employment law boutique law firm. She primarily assisted franchise restaurants and shipping logistics companies located across the country on all aspects of employment law. She also served as an Associate at two large, international firms. In these roles, she managed employment discrimination and wage and hour litigation in federal and state court, and in arbitration.

Earlier, Angela gained valuable experience as an Intern for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as a Summer Associate for the oldest continuing law practice in Minneapolis as a Research Assistant at the United States Sentencing Commission, and as a Criminal Justice Specialist for the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority. While pursuing her J.D., Angela also held a judicial externship for the Honorable David S. Doty for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
