Michael Best’s Gwendolyn W. Lewis Named to Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40

In recognition of her professional achievements and community involvement, Michael Best is pleased to announce that Gwendolyn W. Lewis has been named to Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. The prestigious accolade honors young professionals throughout the greater Charlotte area working to shape the region's future, pouring energy, talent and ideas into local companies and the community at large.

In her legal practice today, Lewis is a dedicated advocate, providing invaluable counsel to businesses, churches, healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and a diverse range of companies, as well as civil litigation, complex labor and employment litigation, and professional liability litigation. Her legal acumen has been recognized by her inclusion on Legal Elite, Employment Law by Business North Carolina Magazine, Employment Litigation by Super Lawyers, and Best Lawyers in America© by Best. Lawyers.

Lewis’s leadership is represented both at the firm and in the community. At Michael Best, she holds a position on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee, and through her involvement, works to foster DEI within firm and the legal profession. Within the community, Lewis is a committed advocate, problem-solver, and collaborator. She serves on boards and committees for the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy, North Carolina Bar Association, and Lifespan Services, PTA, among others.

Lewis earned her J.D. from Elon University School of Law—where she also previously served as the law school’s inaugural Alumni Director where she facilitated the growth and development of the alumni association and managed policies related to Title IX. Lewis received her B.S., magna cum laude, from North Carolina A&T State University.
