Overview

With deep experience in labor and employment law, Ryder advises clients on litigation, compliance, and policy matters across a range of industries, including higher education. He has represented clients before various tribunals, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR), and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and collaborated with the Texas Office of the Attorney General on active litigation.  

In his practice, Ryder has also specialized in First Amendment issues, Title IX, employee leave, and remote work, and has led the drafting of employment and academic policies. His practice also includes public speaking and training on key legal topics such as discrimination law, ADA/FHA compliance, and NIL. 

Prior to joining Michael Best, Ryder served as senior assistant general counsel within the Texas Tech University System where he advised on contracts, employment and personnel matters, student affairs, intercollegiate athletics, and policy drafting.
