Taylor is an Associate in Michael Best’s Intellectual Property practice. He assists client innovators with obtaining strong patent protection directed to their mechanical technologies.

Taylor has developed valuable experience from a number of prior roles, most recently as a Summer Associate with Michael Best. Before pursuing his J.D., Taylor was a Patent Agent with the firm. He assisted with all phases of domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution including patent strategy, portfolio management, patent searching, patent application preparation, and patent prosecution. Taylor also participated in clearance and infringement analyses and coordinated with clients’ in-house counsel and inventors. He began his career with Michael Best as an engineering intern in the firm’s EDGE program.

Earlier, Taylor served as an intern at Carlex Glass, where he worked with a team of engineers to design and implement systems to prevent automotive windshield breakage. While completing his undergraduate degree, Taylor was a research assistant in Rose-Hulman Institute’s Department of Physics and Optical Engineering, where he helped design equipment and conduct research to measure a material’s color temperature. Taylor’s deep technical experience encompasses optics, lighting and lighting systems, materials science, power equipment, and batteries and other power storage devices.
