My Why
What powers my practice
I am fortunate to have my personal, educational, and professional life elevated by the people in my corner. I became an attorney to be the person in the corner for someone else.
Growing up, I was the smallest and youngest of three boys and supplanted quickly in favoritism by my younger sister. Physicality and preference were not on my side during household wars, meaning I had to solve problems creatively. When creativity alone did not work, I developed a drive and desire for success. I focused on building relationships, allies if you will, and learned to listen first, although I was not very good at actually doing so. After high school, I moved from a small town to the big city, where I gained perspective and appreciation for the bigger picture. Soon after came an appreciation for humility, which later, sometime around law school, sprouted into an even greater gift – empathy.
Today, my rockstar wife and mentors push me to be a better man and more effective professional, reminding me to use what I have to benefit others. I attribute to them my ability to stay true to myself, and it is my genuine privilege to be a guide, counselor, or partner helping others do the same.
