What powers my practice
Patent law is an ideal synergy of two of my intellectual passions — The challenge, innovation, ingenuity, and intellectual exhilaration of scientific discovery; and the creativity, problem solving, structure, and analytical frameworks of the law. I find great fulfillment in helping clients advance their ground-breaking innovations and ideas into the types of products and businesses that will enrich and advance our society for decades to come. Overview
Mark focuses his practice on intellectual property strategy, with an emphasis on building and managing patent portfolios for life sciences and advanced technology clients. He advises startups, established companies, and research institutions on protecting innovations across chemical, biochemical, pharmaceutical, gene therapy, and biomedical technologies. His experience includes developing global patent strategies that align with business goals, helping clients strengthen their competitive position and maximize the value of their intellectual property.
He has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting international patent portfolios, as well as conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, IP landscape reviews, and competitive diligence. Mark regularly counsels clients on portfolio development, licensing, and monetization strategies, and provides strategic guidance on how to position IP assets to support growth, investment, and commercialization efforts.
In addition to his prosecution work, Mark brings a strong understanding of how intellectual property intersects with business and litigation strategy. He has supported litigation due diligence, technical and prosecution strategy coordination, and international enforcement efforts, and has worked closely with company leadership to guide IP decision-making at all stages of the business lifecycle.
