Ethan S. Case

Ethan represents companies, family offices, sponsors, management teams, and other investors in a broad range of business and transactional engagements spanning mergers and acquisitions, finance, lending, and complex general corporate matters across a variety of industry sectors. His multidisciplinary background and understanding of the interplay between law and business enable him to deliver practical, business-minded solutions to clients and drive deals to completion.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Ethan worked for two leading global law firms, where he represented private equity funds and multinational corporations in mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. Additionally, he has extensive experience representing banks, funds, global alternative investment managers, issuers, and borrowers in complex, bespoke domestic and cross-border financing and lending transactions.

Before private practice, Ethan was a mergers and acquisitions investment banker in the Atlanta office of a boutique Washington, D.C. investment bank. He has also held roles in the information technology, healthcare, and financial services industries.

Outside of his transactional law practice, Ethan is committed to pro bono service and access to justice. He has previously been recognized as an ABA Free Legal Answers Pro Bono Leader by the ABA Free Legal Answers Clinic, a virtual legal clinic that connects income-eligible clients with pro bono attorneys to answer their civil legal questions. In 2025, he played a significant role in his law firm’s Pro Bono Transactional Matter of the Year, where his team provided legal advice to communities affected by Tropical Storm Helene in Western North Carolina.
