My Why
What powers my practice
I’m drawn to real estate because the work is tangible. I enjoy helping clients take something complicated—whether a development, renovation or transaction—and find a practical path to getting it done. I want my clients to know that I understand not only the legal issues, but also what they are actually trying to accomplish.
Overview
Anna represents developers, private owners, cooperative and condominium boards, purchasers, sellers, landlords and tenants in sophisticated real estate, construction and design matters. Her practice focuses on construction contracts, design professional agreements, access and license agreements, acquisitions and dispositions, multifamily transactions, commercial leasing, financing and development-related transactions.
She prepares and negotiates AIA construction agreements, architect and consultant agreements, construction management agreements, access and license agreements, property management agreements, commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements, loan documents and related project documentation. Her work spans ground-up development, significant renovation projects, multifamily acquisitions and sales, commercial leasing, cooperative and condominium matters, and the practical 'dirt law' questions that arise in complex New York real estate transactions.
Anna regularly counsels clients on risk allocation, indemnity, insurance requirements, project access, adjacent property protections, construction logistics, title and survey issues, development strategy and the practical avoidance of disputes in connection with complex construction, renovation, acquisition, disposition, financing and leasing matters.
She also acts as outside counsel to cooperative and condominium boards, advising on day-to-day governance, shareholder and unit-owner questions, capital improvement projects, facade work, lobby renovations, elevator modernization, refinancings, building operations and quality-of-life matters. Her advice rests on practical risk assessment, liability analysis and efficient execution of projects.
In addition to her transactional practice, Anna is experienced in negotiating access and license agreements for construction projects throughout New York City, including matters involving access to neighboring property, pre-construction surveys, monitoring, protective measures and project-related coordination among owners, contractors, engineers and consultants. During law school she served as a mediator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, experience that continues to inform her practical, business-minded approach to negotiation and dispute resolution.
Anna joined Michael Best with the New York team of Kane Kessler, P.C., where she practices as senior counsel.
