Michael Best is pleased to announce that Bernie Brown is one of 20 individuals selected for the Triangle Business Journal’s 2026 Triangle Law Awards. This nomination recognizes legal professionals making waves across various practice areas in the Greater Triangle region.
Named a Contract Partner in 2021 and then an Equity Partner in 2024, Brown serves as the primary, go-to life sciences and intellectual property strategist at Michael Best. In this role, he handles two of the largest academic clients at the firm and is also responsible for managing sizeable portfolios and day-to-day prosecution strategy for these clients. He also works with clients to protect and leverage their biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical innovations where he provides comprehensive patent prosecution, portfolio management, and commercialization counsel. He is frequently sought out by venture, mechanical, and electrical colleagues for guidance on complex life sciences matters.

Beyond client matters, Brown is heavily involved with both mentorship and recruiting efforts where he mentors a number of junior team members and participates in the hiring process in and outside of North Carolina.
The Triangle Business Journal will celebrate Brown and the other 2026 winners during its annual Triangle Law Awards event on April 23.
