Michael Best is pleased to announce the addition of two new associates and one new staff attorney in the second quarter of 2025, further strengthening the firm’s capabilities across the labor &amp; employment, litigation, and Venture Best practice areas.

Chris Waivers has joined the firm as a Staff Attorney in the Litigation practice group and is based in the Greenville office. Waivers has a decade worth of experience representing clients in complex civil litigation and bankruptcy matters in North Carolina state and federal courts. Prior to joining Michael Best, Waivers served as an associate at a full-service law firm in eastern North Carolina, where he led and supported litigation across a broad spectrum of civil matters. His courtroom experience includes first-chair and second-chair roles in jury and bench trials, as well as appearances before bankruptcy courts and all levels of North Carolina’s trial and appellate courts. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Campbell University and his B.S., magna cum laude, from East Carolina University.

Andrew Bae joins as an Associate in the Labor &amp; Employment practice group, located in the Washington, D.C. office. Bae’s practice focuses on employee benefits and executive compensation. He assists both public and private companies with a wide range of employee benefits matters, including plan design and administration, legal compliance, fiduciary duties, and employee benefits litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Bae worked as an associate at a large global law firm. In this role, he demonstrated expertise in advising clients on executive compensation and employee benefits matters, particularly in connection with corporate transactions. Bae earned his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law, J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law and his B.B. A., magna cum laude, from Texas A&amp;M University.

Samantha Bush has been promoted from Legal Counsel to Associate in the Venture Best practice group in Chicago. Bush has made meaningful contributions to the firm during her time, assisting entrepreneurs, corporate businesses, and investors with a variety of business and transactional matters.
