Clients benefit from the years of experience Travis gained working in Illinois’ legislature. As a senior associate with Michael Best Strategies, he focuses his work in the areas of state budget, state bonding, capital budgeting, economic development, and gaming.
Prior to joining Strategies, Travis was an analyst for the Office of the Speaker in the Illinois House of Representatives. There, he collaborated and communicated with legislators, staff, and advocates on the development, analysis, and negotiation of legislation. He also served as a lead staffer for the Speaker of the House during the decennial redistricting process in 2011, working with various sitting members of the House to define and calculate district lines, and testifying at House redistricting hearings throughout the state. In addition, Travis advised members on policy decisions and parliamentary procedure on several committees, including, the House Business & Occupational Licenses, Economic Opportunity, and Executive committees.
Travis also worked for the Democratic Party of Illinois, developing and coordinating successful campaigns across the state through fundraising, grassroots organization, field coordination, and message development.
