Ryan focuses his practice in the areas of bankruptcy law, financial restructuring, and commercial litigation, representing both creditors and distressed businesses. He has considerable experience, having practiced in this field since 2014.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Ryan was a Corporate Restructuring and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Associate with a bankruptcy specialty law firm. There, he represented clients in Chapter 11 proceedings, including handling emergency filings. Ryan also represented creditors in preference actions, and was responsible for drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery, attending hearings, conducting affirmative defense analyses, and handling settlement negotiations.
Ryan previously worked as a Financial Restructuring Associate for two separate international transactional law firms. He represented companies in matters including insolvency situations and financial restructurings. Ryan’s clients included Chapter 11 debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, official and ad hoc creditors’ committees, and other asset purchasers from financially troubled entities.
Ryan also has experience defending employers in a range of employment matters, including federal and state wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation actions. In these matters, he led discovery, took and defended depositions, negotiated settlements, and represented clients’ in alternative resolution approaches such as arbitration and mediation.
He began his law career as a Summer Associate for an AmLaw 100 firm
