Overview

Michael brings a technical background in biomedical engineering with an emphasis on biomechanics to his work as a patent engineer. His technical perspective informs his work in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.

Michael regularly conducts state-of-the-art searches and prepares landscape maps, which group relevant patent references together by key words and technological area, from the results. He has expanded his focus beyond biomedical applications to include mechanical and electrical work involving motor engine parts and energy storage modules for car batteries.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Michael worked as a software quality assurance intern. In this capacity, he engaged directly with developers in software testing and assisted in developing a new patient database for EEG (Electroencephalography) acquisitions. After continuing a school design project, Michael co-founded Novel Nasogastrics, which aimed to design an improved nasogastric tube for use in small bowel obstruction procedures.
