Overview

Matt assists clients in preparing and prosecuting patent applications. His practice is built on a background in mechanical engineering, with firsthand experience with the complexities of project design and building. He also assists with matters regarding clearance, patentability, and validity options.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Matt served as an intellectual property clerk for PING, Inc., a company that designs, engineers, manufactures, and custom fits golf equipment. In that role he prepared and prosecuted design and utility patent applications, performed legal and technical research, examined patents, and helped to form patent strategy.

Previously, Matt was a mechanical engineer with Van Boerum & Frank Associates, a full service engineering firm. There, he designed mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial building projects.

Honors & Recognitions

During law school, Matthew was a Williard H. Pedrick Scholar and won the CALI Award for top grade in legal advocacy. He was also a Center of Law, Science, and Innovation Center Scholar.
