Katie assists with the full procedural spectrum of patent issues including preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications. She brings a technical background to bear on her work conducting patentability and patent clearance studies, analyzing actions by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and preparing corresponding responses and communicating with clients.
Katie worked in-house for a client for three months on secondment in 2015. In this capacity, she worked closely with company engineers to assist them in the patent process and helped train an in-house patent engineer.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Katie participated in the Co-op Program at Marquette University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical (mechanical) engineering in 2011. Under the auspices of the program, she worked in research and development at Cardiac Science, a global medical device manufacturer. While at Marquette, Katie was a member of both Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Alpha Eta Mu Beta Biomedical Engineering Honor Society.
Katie is currently attending law school at the University of Colorado Law School in Boulder (J.D. expected in May, 2018).
