Jonathan is a Patent Engineer who assists with the drafting, preparation, and prosecution of patent applications directed to mechanical and biomedical innovations. He works closely with Michael Best attorneys to obtain strong patent protection for clients’ valuable intellectual assets.
While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Jonathan gained hands-on experience through several roles. He was a mechanical engineering intern at J.W. Speaker, a company that specializes in LED and other lighting technologies. In this role, Jonathan assisted with product design, and specifically focused on power connectors for printed circuit boards. He also gained valuable experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to generate three-dimensional solid models. Additionally, Jonathan participated in Michael Best’s EDGE patent engineering internship program before joining the firm full-time.
As a university student, Jonathan completed design projects directed to bandages and pressure cuffs for infant patients. He also led product development projects for a software app tracking available seating in public places, and a versatile, travel-friendly table.
Jonathan was also the President of the student organization Engineering, Business, and Entrepreneurship (EBE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he researched, designed, and pitched product ideas to investors.
