Jason brings a technical background in mechanical engineering to the full spectrum of patent issues related to mechanical products and systems. Clients look to him for his analysis on patents directed at power tools, hand tools, vacuum cleaners, hydraulic systems, and commercial refrigeration systems, among others. Jason also has experience in all phases of patent prosecution and has drafted over 100 patent applications.
Jason’s practice includes preparing and prosecuting utility and design patent applications and conducting patent searches and analysis (including clearance, patentability, invalidity, and state-of-the-art searches). Jason also has experience challenging patents in post-grant proceedings at the USPTO, analyzing competitor products for potential patent infringement, coordinating competitor patent monitoring programs, and conducting broad portfolio analysis.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Jason worked at an architectural and engineering design firm, where he assisted in designing and drafting HVAC, piping, and other mechanical systems. Jason then worked at Michael Best as a Patent Engineer before attending law school.
