Overview

Jacob applies a strong background in mechanical engineering to assist in the prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications. He has prepared applications for a variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies, including:

Prior to joining Michael Best, Jacob worked within the Technical Service department for Lucas Milhaupt, Inc., a company specializing in the brazing industry. During that time, he consulted with customers to optimize brazing alloys and brazing processes within the electrical, transportation, HVAC, medical, and construction industries.

Experience

Recent matters include:

  • Provided non-infringement opinions and successfully prosecuted applications for power tools, hand tools and accessories in Australian, Canadian, Chinese, European, Taiwanese, and U.S. Patent Offices
  • Successfully prosecuted patent applications for theater lighting and lift systems in Japanese, Chinese, European, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and U.S. Patent Offices
  • Providing defensive patent prosecution to complement pending litigation case involving solar panel roof-mounting systems
  • Prosecuting patent application for commercial cleaning supplies on appeal before the U.S. Patent Office Patent Trial and Appeal Board
