Overview

Gregory is an experienced first-chair litigator who has successfully represented corporations and individuals in all types of civil litigation matters, and he is well versed in products liability matters and risk management. Clients turn to him for counsel on a variety of legal issues, including products liability, complex breach of contract matters, insurance disputes, wrongful discharge allegations, wage and hour violations, defamation, false imprisonment, and various other disputes.

Gregory represents clients in federal and state courts, and in jury and bench trials. Gregory takes a focused, problem-solving approach in all phases of litigation including pre-suit, discovery, and motions practice to maximize effective client advocacy and litigation management. His litigation experience includes the representation of a global technology company in a multimillion-dollar breach of contract suit with state government and federal court, and a highly publicized civil rights trial in federal court that concerned various higher education and university leaders. He has consistently conducted investigations to implement effective case strategy and prepare witnesses for deposition and trial while advising management and in-house counsel.

He has particular experience in products liability matters and has successfully advised and defended manufacturers of motor vehicles, boats, pharmaceutical and medical devices, heating and HVAC systems, heavy machinery, and other consumer products against allegations of manufacturing defects, breach of warranty, violation of state consumer protection statutes and federal regulations, and much more. As part of his active approach to helping clients minimize risk where possible, Gregory has drafted and revised product warnings in an effort to avoid future litigation while also advising multi-national consumer product manufacturers of risks associated with product warnings and labels.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Gregory served as counsel for a large Am Law 100 firm in Baltimore, Maryland. In this role, he collaborated with clients’ in-house counsel to assess and manage all phases of litigation to meet business objectives and develop effective risk management strategies.

Gregory’s recent representations include the following:

Defending manufacturers against allegations of design defects, breach of warranty, and fraud

Gregory successfully defended manufacturers of motor vehicles and boats, pharmaceutical and medical devices, heating/HVAC systems, surface preparation equipment, heavy machinery, and various consumer products against several allegations.

A victory that resulted in recovery

Gregory defended a real estate development company in connection with breach of a commercial real estate sales contract concerning a multimillion-dollar property purchase.

Counseling clients on contract rights, remedies, and cost-effective strategies

Gregory represented mortgage brokerage and manufacturing clients to enforce employee non-compete agreements and implement cease-and-desist actions.

Defending companies and their employees

Gregory successfully defended employees of a nationwide food store chain against allegations of respondent superior, defamation, false imprisonment, and other intentional torts.
