Brian leverages his diverse legal and technical experience to help clients protect their business interests and valuable intellectual property rights. His practice covers a range of intellectual property services, including representing clients in intellectual property litigation and post-grant review proceedings.

Clients rely on Brian’s pragmatic, strategic approach to intellectual property portfolio development and management. He specializes in developing and managing patent and trademark portfolios to fit each client’s unique circumstances and technologies. He advises clients on all aspects of their portfolios, including planning, valuation, and monetization.

Brian also represents clients in intellectual property litigation, licensing, identification of patentable innovations, and asset acquisition negotiations. His litigation experience includes representing clients against claims of infringement in federal and appellate court and before the U.S. International Trade Commission, as well as inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Brian also counsels start-up businesses on intellectual property and corporate matters, including serving as an intellectual property advisor to Austin-based start-up Plum, Inc. In addition to his firm practice experience, Brian previously served as senior patent and contracts counsel to an international battery and green energy company, where he managed the company’s global patent and trademark portfolios.


  • Successfully defended an international fabless semiconductor company against claims of patent infringement in IPR proceedings before the PTAB. In five proceedings, Brian’s team invalidated the competitor’s asserted patents, saving the client hundreds of millions in potential damages.
  • Provided patent landscape analysis and strategic portfolio development advice to international corporations regarding technologies such as cloud computing services, mobile device, autonomous vehicle systems, and battery management. Brian’s counsel helped these clients obtain patent protection while adding tens of millions of dollars in estimated value.
  • Helped a seed-stage IoT start-up develop a clear intellectual property strategy and gain Series A fundraising through utility and design patent prosecution and counseling
