Overview

Michael focuses his practice in the area of intellectual property protection and transactions. A registered patent attorney with a Master’s degree in Chemical Sciences, Michael brings both technical and business acumen pertaining to IP assets, licenses and other agreements, and transactional matters.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Michael worked in private practice with Forrest Firm, where he specialized in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating IP and technology contracts. Previously, he worked in-house for a management consulting firm, a financial services company, and an energy company preparing and negotiating contracts including technology and trademark licensing agreements, manufacturing agreements, professional services agreements, master services agreements, supply agreements, and other commercial contracts. In these in-house roles, Michael also worked closely with internal clients, vendors, and customers to assess their cybersecurity needs, identify and mitigate potential risks, and effectively manage and maintain private data.

Michael began his legal career as a Judicial Fellow for the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania where he researched relevant law, prepared legal analyses, and drafted appellate judicial opinions. While pursuing his Master’s degree, Michael conducted extensive research related to the drug delivery process, particularly in relation to treating laryngotracheal stenosis.
