Andrew focuses his practice on matters related to U.S. and foreign patent protection for clients in the biomedical, electrical, and computer industries.
He has an extensive background in research and development, with experience in medical image and signal processing, development and testing of medical devices, electronic control system design, bioinformatics, robotic automation for medical research laboratories, and computer software design.
Andrew has particular experience developing systems and advising clients on legal matters relating to CT image acquisition and modeling, including portable CT acquisition systems, functional MRI technologies, and research-related technologies such as MALDI-TOF, MALDI imaging, and florescence-based genetic marker analysis.
In addition to drafting and prosecuting patent applications, Andrew regularly counsels clients — including major research universities, large corporations, and individual inventors — on patentability, invalidity and infringement. He also prepares complex patent portfolios for potential litigation and licensing programs.
