"Of course an educational institution can be sued by anyone, anywhere. But wouldn’t one expect that a state court complaint could be dismissed when it is filed against an institution in a state where it has no campuses, no registered agents and business registration?
It might not be so easy.
Georgetown University, located in Washington, D.C., recently found itself in this position and had to take its case to Illinois’ 3rd District Appellate Court to obtain dismissal of the case."
