We will present an overview and explanation of the busy year in patent reform. More than a dozen bills were proposed in both Houses of Congress. In the end, the House passed a comprehensive reform bill, but that bill and other measures died in the Senate. Nevertheless, patent reform is still alive in this Congress and may get a second-wind after the upcoming election. At the same time, the Supreme Court issued a record number of patent-specific decisions in the past year. Therefore, we will review the history, summarize the various reform proposals that are on the table, analyze the prospects for success, and address your questions about how the current reform movement may affect your business.
