Amy Schmidt Jones and Katherine Wood Schill Honored Among 2016 Top Women in the Law

Milwaukee, WI (May 19, 2016) – Michael Best & Friedrich LLP proudly announces the Wisconsin Law Journal’s selection of attorneys Amy Schmidt Jones and Katherine Wood Schill as 2016 Women in the Law award recipients. The annual award honors top women attorneys for their outstanding achievements in the legal field and community, while paving the way to success for other women in the legal profession.

Jones is Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Relations Practice Group, one of Michael Best’s largest practice areas and a top-ranked practice in Wisconsin. Jones is the first woman to chair this dynamic group. A leading practitioner in her field, her practice includes representation of management in all aspects of employment and labor law, with special emphasis in employment litigation, employment counseling, workplace investigations and employee/supervisor training. Since joining Michael Best in 1998, Jones has committed herself to mentoring young attorneys and helped establish the firm’s Women’s Development Group and Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Also a community leader, Jones serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Milwaukee Ballet.

Schill, a partner in the Litigation Practice Group, devotes her practice to commercial and intellectual property litigation. In more than 20 years with the firm, Schill has established herself as a leading litigator, mentor, role model and advocate for the firm’s female attorneys. In her rise to the partnership, Schill established a flexible work time policy, allowing her to effectively balance a dedication to both her legal practice and her family. Schill has served North Shore Congregational Church in many lay leadership positions and is active in the Shorewood School District and numerous youth sports leagues. For many years, she has ensured the firm’s growth by leading its Recruitment Committee, committing many hours to the hiring and retention of new attorneys.

Jones and Schill, along with all 2016 Women in the Law award recipients, will be honored at an event hosted by the Wisconsin Law Journal on June 23, 2016, at the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.
