Kerryann Haase Minton had originally planned to become a doctor, but a high school class that allowed her to shadow a doctor at a hospital for a week changed everything. “I fainted on the first day at the sight of blood,” she recalls.
Today, Haase Minton, an employment lawyer and managing partner at Michael Best & Friedrich’s Chicago office, practices what she likes to call “preventative medicine,” counseling clients on how to avoid unnecessary litigation — and defending them when it happens.
Quite often, her advice to clients is the same advice she practices while running the Chicago office. It boils down to the Golden Rule. “Treat others the way you’d like to be treated, and take responsibility for your own actions,” she says. “If you do that, you’ll have a pretty harmonious workplace.”
