Michael Best's Intellectual Property Practice Further Expands with Addition of Four Attorneys

Milwaukee, WI (November 11, 2015) – Following the recent addition of 10 professionals to Michael Best & Friedrich LLP’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, the firm is pleased to welcome the following attorneys to its Intellectual Property Team:

Chicago, IL

Daniel Allard focuses his practice on patent prosecution and counseling for mechanical matters. Allard earned his J.D., cum laude, and his Intellectual Property Certificate from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2015. He earned his B.S., with honors, in Applied Engineering Sciences from Michigan State University in 2012. Allard began with Michael Best as an IP summer associate in 2014 and also interned with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Nicolaas Bressers has a background in mechanical patent prosecution and counseling. Bressers assists clients in developing offensive and defensive patent strategies, patent analysis and the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. He earned a J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2015 and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2008. He originally began with Michael Best as a patent engineer in 2008.

Teri McClerklin-Small focuses her practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the life sciences field. McClerklin-Small received her J.D., magna cum laude, and her Intellectual Property Law Certificate from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2015, where she was inducted in the Order of the Coif by vote of the Chicago-Kent faculty. She also earned an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University in 2008 and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 2007. McClerklin-Small began with Michael Best as an extern in 2014. Prior to joining the firm, she was a legal secretary at a Chicago-based firm and also gained two years of intellectual property paralegal experience while working for prominent Israeli intellectual property firms.

Joseph Serge focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation. Serge earned his J.D., cum laude, and his Intellectual Property & Technology Law Certificate from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2015 and his B.S. in Biomedical Sciences (2012) and B.A. in Psychology (2008) from Marquette University. Serge began with the firm as a 2014 summer associate and served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Jeffrey Conen in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
