Chicago, IL (November 10, 2015) – Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is pleased to announce that Sara R. Whaley has joined the firm’s Chicago office as an attorney in the Labor and Employment Relations Practice Group.
Whaley focuses on employment counseling and litigation. Her practice includes defending employers in federal, state and administrative litigation, and her representative experience includes issues related to: discrimination, harassment, retaliation, covenants not to compete, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Whaley was a legal extern for the Honorable Judge Efremsky in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, where she drafted bench memoranda regarding various bankruptcy issues, conducted research on bankruptcy law and gained valuable knowledge while observing courtroom proceedings and mediations. She also gained valuable sports and entertainment-related experience through internships with the Los Angeles Sparks and Rochester Red Wings.
Whaley earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2015, where she was Development Editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law and Vice President of Sports for the Entertainment and Sports Law Society. She received a B.A. in Public Policy, with honors, from the University of Chicago in 2011 and served as Vice President of Communications of Delta Gamma Fraternity
