SALT LAKE CITY (March 16, 2015) – Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is pleased to announce Christopher E. Warner has joined the firm’s Salt Lake City office as a member of its growing venture capital practice group, Venture Best™. Michael Best established its Salt Lake office on January 1, 2014 with eight attorneys and has now grown to 14 attorneys with the addition of Warner.
Warner joins Michael Best after spending time as an associate with two firms highly-regarded in the venture capital industry. As a corporate associate in the Emerging Companies practice group of Cooley LLP, a firm consistently ranked among the top law firms for venture financing deals and technology and life sciences IPOs, he focused on all aspects of emerging company matters, such as corporate formation, venture capital financings, public and private securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions. As an associate with Perkins Coie, LLP, he represented startups and high growth technology companies regarding a broad array of matters, including corporate formation, day-to-day operations, securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions.
Warner brings a substantial amount of venture capital experience in a wide range of industries to Michael Best, having acted as general outside counsel to numerous companies and represented both public and private companies. During his time with Cooley and Perkins Coie, Warner took part in more than 150 venture capital transactions.
As a member of the Venture Best Team, which represented companies in five of the 10 largest Wisconsin venture capital investments of 2014 according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Warner will focus on all aspects of corporate law, with an emphasis on emerging company matters, including corporate formation, venture capital financings, securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions.
Warner earned his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the Seattle University School of Law in 2009 and his Bachelor of Science in Global Business with an emphasis in Finance, magna cum laude, from Arizona State University in 2003, where he was also elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association.
