WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 25, 2014) – Kyle G. Hepner has joined the Washington D.C. office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as an attorney in the Firm’s Intellectual Property (IP) Group. Prior to joining Michael Best, Hepner practiced at Roylance, Abrams, Berdo & Goodman, a Washington, D.C.-based intellectual property law firm.
Hepner’s experience includes patent and trademark litigation, U.S. and foreign patent procurement, trademark procurement and appeal proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has also counseled clients on the development of IP strategies and rendered opinions on matters pertaining to patentability, infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate.
Hepner has extensive knowledge in manufacturing systems and methods, mechanical and electromechanical devices, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, optics, lasers and designs. He has considerable experience as a patent searcher, performing clearance, patentability, validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate searches. Hepner has also performed research focused on nanotechnology and computer-integrated manufacturing. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Hepner earned his Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School in 2008 and his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the George Washington University in 2005.
