Michael Best attorneys Albert Bianchi Jr. and Ian A. J. Pitz were featured in the Law360 article titled, "Railroads Contribute To $10.5M Superfund Cleanup Settlement," on November 12, 2014.

Two railroad companies, an electrical contractor and the city of Ashland, Wisconsin, agreed on Tuesday to pay $10.5 million to the United States and Northern States Power Co. to settle allegations related to the cleanup of the Ashland Lakefront Superfund site.

According to the consent decree filed in a Wisconsin federal court, the settlement resolves the power company’s Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act suit claiming that Soo Line Railroad Co., Wisconsin Central Ltd., L.E. Meyers Co. and the city of Ashland all contributed to the pollution at the site and should help pay for the cleanup costs.
