Rachel M. Slade, Ph.D., has joined the Salt Lake City office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Slade focuses her patent practice on technology involving organic chemistry in the life science and pharmaceutical industries.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Slade was an associate at another Salt Lake City law firm where she utilized her extensive drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry to provide strategic counseling to clients and assist in patent prosecution, due diligence reviews, and validity and freedom to operate analyses. Slade’s experience in the pharmaceutical industry was focused on the design and synthesis of therapeutics against Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, HIV and inflammation.
Slade earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Utah, her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oregon, and her Bachelor’s Degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota.
