Lisa R. Petersen has joined the Salt Lake City office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group.
Petersen joins Michael Best with over 18 years of experience. Previously, she worked at another law firm in Salt Lake City where her practice focused on complex civil and commercial litigation, contract disputes, all types of employment litigation, drafting employment contracts, policies, procedures and appeals, and employer training and compliance.
Utah Business Magazine named Petersen a Utah Legal Elite Labor and Employment Lawyer seven years in a row (2008-2014). Mountain States Super Lawyers named her a Top 50 Woman Lawyer two years in a row; she has been AV-Preeminent rated by Martindale Hubbell since 2009.
She served as Chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the Utah State Bar from 2003-2004 and currently serves on the Test Accommodations Committee for the Utah State Bar.

Petersen earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Utah where she was an editor for the Utah Law Review,
and her Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude,
in Political Science, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Utah. She clerked for the Honorable Michael R. Murphy on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals from 1996 – 1997.
