Federal Government Provides Opportunity to Suggest Regulations for Repeal

On April 11, 2025, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued a notice of request for information seeking suggestions for regulations that ought to be rescinded or modified. This opportunity is open to the public and applies to any and all regulations currently in effect. 90 Fed. Reg. 15,481.

The suggestions may be used to inform deregulatory efforts of the current Administration.

Suggestions may be submitted online and must be received by May 12. Comments must address the background of the rule and provide detailed reasons explaining why the suggested rule should be repealed. Possible reasons include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The regulation is inconsistent with the Constitution or its authorizing statute.
  • The regulation’s costs outweigh the benefits.
  • The regulation is outdated or unnecessary.
  • The regulation does not reflect current technology.
  • The regulation is overly burdensome.

Submitting a detailed suggestion is an accessible way to be involved in the deregulatory initiative.

If you have a particular suggestion that warrants broader engagement with the Administration, we encourage you to contact your Michael Best attorney or Michael Best Strategies to further discuss this opportunity.
