Michael Best Adds Christopher Seamster to Growing Corporate Practice in North Carolina Triad

Michael Best is pleased to announce that Christopher D. Seamster has joined the firm’s corporate practice group as a partner in the Winston-Salem office.

Licensed to practice in New York and North Carolina, Seamster focuses his practice on corporate/business law, ranging from general outside corporate counsel representation to sophisticated corporate transactions. He regularly advises clients on mergers and acquisition transactions, corporate buyouts, restructuring, day-to-day corporate issues including general contract review, corporate and LLC structuring, employment agreements, vendor contracts and corporate governance matters. Prior to joining Michael Best, Seamster was a partner at a full-service North Carolina firm where he was chair of the corporate practice group.

“With his expansive background in M&A and restructuring, Chris will be a great addition to our deep bench of corporate lawyers,” said Jason Rogers, Chair of Corporate Practice Group. “His strong background in representing clients in securities law will also help strengthen our robust practice group.”

In addition to his corporate practice, Seamster also has a proven background in the renewable energy space. At his previous firm, he assisted solar renewable energy clients with corporate structuring and tax equity investments for solar farm development projects. He also has experience advising his clients with trademark, copyright and other intellectual property related matters that include filing, monitoring, and maintaining applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Further, Seamster has extensive experience in securities law, representing public and private companies in New York for over ten years with public and private securities offerings, SEC disclosure and compliance, and general corporate governance.

“We were very impressed by his proven track record in counseling clients across both corporate and environmental sectors,” said James Forrest, Managing Partner of the North Carolina offices. “Chris will be a huge asset as the firm’s focus on renewable energy continues to grow.”

“It’s exciting to join the Michael Best team and to be part of firm with such a strong reputation,” added Seamster. “The firm has seen extensive expansion this year in the East Coast market, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

With the acquisition of Forrest Firm in January, Michael Best added 23 lawyers and multiple offices in North Carolina to the firm’s ranks this year. Seamster received his BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 and his JD from Touro Law School in 2005.
