Michael Best is pleased to announce that Carrie Ziegler Thomas, Senior Counsel in the Milwaukee Labor & Employment group, has been elected as the 2022-2023 Chair for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Wisconsin Chapter. As Chair, she will be responsible for leading the Chapter’s nearly 150 members and will represent the Chapter on AILA’s Board of Governors.
Ziegler Thomas has been a member of AILA for 14 years, holding previous positions as the New Members Division liaison, U.S. Customs and Border Protection liaison, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chair.
Founded in 1946, AILA is a national association made up of over 16,000 attorneys and professors who practice or teach immigration law. AILA is a not-for-profit organization that aims to promote justice with fair immigration laws and policies, advance the quality of immigration and nationality practice and promote professional development of its members. AILA attorneys often represent U.S. families with close family who are seeking permanent residence in the U.S. as well as businesses who recruit talent from around the world. Members of the association often represent foreign students, athletes, entertainers, and people seeking asylum pro bono.
